Common Genetic Diseases

Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are prone to certain genetic conditions, such as mitral valve disease (MVD), syringomyelia (SM), hip dysplasia, and eye disorders. These health concerns are more common in the breed due to their genetic makeup, which is why responsible breeding practices are so important in maintaining their health.

Responsible Breeding

At Furever Cavaliers, we are committed to bettering the breed through rigorous genetic testing. All our breeding dogs undergo DNA testing and OFA certification to screen for hereditary diseases. By selecting only healthy dogs for our breeding program, we work to reduce the risk of passing on genetic conditions like MVD and syringomyelia, ensuring that future generations of Cavaliers live longer, healthier lives.
